Become a St. Mary’s High School student

Scroll down for a timeline of the admissions process.

In just four short years at St. Mary’s, our students grow socially, academically, and spiritually to help them succeed in college and beyond. We’re delighted that you’re interested in joining the St. Mary’s family. Based on your child’s current grade level, there are a few action items we recommend you and your child take to apply for admission.

October

October

Open House will take place Sunday, October 5th, from 9AM – 12PM, and Monday, October 6th, from 5PM – 7PM. Prospective students and their families are invited to meet current students, administration, faculty, staff, coaches, parents, graduates, and members of our Board of Trustees. See if St. Mary’s is the right fit for your family!

October is also a time for students to shadow and see what it’s like to be a part of the Lancer family. Schedule a Shadow Day and apply! Application forms for admission to St. Mary’s are available online, and a portion needs to be submitted to your child’s elementary or middle school office.

November

The HSPT Placement Exam & Review Course runs in early November, from 4PM – 6PM. All essential elements of the Placement Exam are covered, and practice tests assist students with critical thinking and test-taking skills.

The Placement Exam is on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, this year, November 22, 2025, from 8AM – 11AM, and costs $25. Eighth-grade students interested in attending St. Mary’s must register to take the placement exam. Criteria for awards and scholarships are primarily based on each student’s placement exam test results.

All accepted students are strongly encouraged to attend our Freshman Orientation. This is where our new students will meet their classmates and upperclassmen mentors, giving everyone a chance to get to know one another! It also covers important elements that will ensure a smooth transition to high school life. Students will be given their schedules here as well. In addition, students will learn about time management skills and meet some of their teachers. Following this event, a Freshman Parent Orientation will then take place in August.
